Out & About with Becky Wren

Hiho Silver Brand Ambassador & Countryside Blogger of the Year 2019 shares her latest tales from the west country…

Goodbye summer, hello autumn!

Wow, where did summer 2019 go? It seemed to disappear in a flash, so thought I’d share some of my highlights with you all.

Dimpsey Shepherd Hut Glamping

I had the pleasure of staying in the gorgeous Hither hut at Dimpsey as a birthday treat, down in Somerset with one of my best friends who is imminently due to give birth. It was a well needed night away from the hustle & bustle of daily life.

We were treated like Queen’s by our wonderful hosts Emma & Andrew Warren. We certainly made the most of the luxurious hot tub, & had a truly magical time sitting outside under the stars toasting marshmallows, & putting the world to right. You can read all about my stay here.

Hiho Silver & British Eventing Jewellery Launch

As some of you will know from my blog, I’m a passionate member of British Eventing, love competing my two horses Leo & Barley, & volunteer when I can in XC control.

When I heard Hiho Silver & British Eventing had partnered up to launch a jewellery range at the Festival of Eventing at Gatcombe, I was super excited. Have you seen the range

I love the sparkly roller bead charm which comes in the traditional BE colours of blue, red & white, it looks great on the foxtail leather bracelet or a simple silver chain necklace. And the friendship bracelet which has a silver disc with the BE logo etched one side & space the other side to have your name or an important date engraved.

I have both the bead & friendship bracelet which looks very stylish.

Competing & Volunteering for British Eventing

Beginning of August, I was busy competing Leo on the Saturday in his first BE100 at Moreton in Dorset, which was an educational day for him with lots of positives to take away. And then headed back on the Sunday to help out in XC Control & even tried my hand at commentating, as well as eating a lot of cake!!

Countryside Blogger of the Year Award 2019

Whilst on my summer holiday in Crete, I found out the amazing news that I was shortlisted as a finalist for the 2019 Countryside Blogger of the Year Award hosted by Haynet. From the beach I had to rally the troops to help vote for my blog Country Bumpkin Chic to win.

And… I only went & won! Huge thank you to Hiho Silver for their support & all the wonderful followers who helped vote. It was all rather overwhelming, but has finally sunk in. It’ssuch an amazing achievement & I can’t wait to share more of my stories from my blog www.countrybumpkinchic.co.uk

Looking back, it was the confidence & skills gained at the last two #HihoAndCo instameets that helped me pluck up the courage to enter in the first place. Did you know they’re now running an Equestrian Blogger/Vlogger of the year award?

So, what’s coming up this Autumn?

British Eventing

September & October is jam packed with dressage & jump training as we prepare for our final British Eventing competitions on Barley & Leo. We’re looking forward to finishing Leo’s first year eventing at Bicton International in Devon (24-27 October). And I’m excited to visit the Hiho Silver event team who are exhibiting. I’ll definitely be popping by to say ‘hello’ & catch up with King of the Road Andrew, as well as check out all the lovely new pieces. Will you be going?

#HihoAndCo Instameet

November 4th is the date set for the 3rd #HihoAndCo instameet & this time it will be hosted at the beautiful Forde Abbey in Somerset. Did you know this is where Hiho Silver was based for many years?

I’m looking forward to being reunited with all the friends I’ve made at previous #HihoAndCo instameets, as well as meeting & making lots of new friends.

It’s always such a great day, & I come away feeling energised from the sessions – even though I would have eaten my weight in cake! Will you be attending this year or following on Instagram stories?

What do you have planned this autumn? And what Hiho Silver pieces do you have your eye on? I’ll give you an update on how my autumn antics go in my next blog post.

All the best,

Becky x
