Bicton FEI Eventing Nations Cup

Thursday 22nd May  - Sunday 25th May 2025

A relatively new event to Hiho’s show calendar but not to the Hiho family! Bicton is one of our most local events and is a venue that holds many Hiho family memories from the young Masters Hiho pony club days right back to our King of the Road running an event alongside his dad as a child.

Bicton itself is nestled in the rolling countryside of the beautiful Clinton Devon Estate and boasts immaculate high class facilities that are sure to guarantee a spectacular event.

 What to see?

The British leg of the FEI Eventing Nations Cup™ 2025 is to be hosted at Bicton.

Helen West, Co-Director at Bicton comments, “We are thrilled to have been awarded the GBR leg of this annual team competition. The COVID pandemic provided an opportunity for Bicton to showcase just what it can achieve when we hosted the one-off CCI5* Burghley replacement. 2023 saw the inaugural running of the CCI4*-S in May, which has now become an established “go to” event for many riders. It therefore seems fitting for the GBR leg of this prestigious FEI series to be awarded to Bicton and we look forward to putting on a top-class competition for as many nations as possible.”

The British leg was formerly hosted at Chatsworth International Horse Trials, who have recently taken the decision to sit out the 2025 season. The FEI Nations Cup™ series is equestrian sport’s oldest and most prestigious team challenge, with national teams from around the globe competing for one of the most coveted prizes in this Olympic discipline.

The series aims to unite nations and foster lifelong enthusiasm for the world of horses. Its global format means that more countries can host qualifiers at world-class venues and aim to win the FEI Nations Cup™ title by acquiring qualifying points according to their placings.

If you are also hoping to bring the family but are worried they may get a little bored of constant horses (I know apparently that’s possible…) never fear Bicton has you covered!

The horse trials will keep you busy, but there is also other things going on too. Including a wide array of activities including face-painting, falconry demonstrations and a dog show coupled with a wide variety of trade stands and catering options aimed at showcasing the best of the South West’s local cuisine.

 What should I wear?

With the event being held in May and the British weather being well, British we recommend being prepared for all eventualities if you are planning on visiting Bicton International Horse Trials.

The sun will hopefully grace us with its warming presence so sun cream, sunhat and some sunglasses are a must but maybe pop a rain coat in the back just to be on the safe side. Comfortable clothes and footwear are also essential - as with any horse trial walking will be a large part of the day, especially if you are planning on getting up close and personal with some of the 4* cross country action on the Sunday.
