Welcome to Wednesday, often known as ‘hump day’ as after midday you are officially cruising towards the weekend – it gets you over the hump of the middle of the week! We don’t know about you but 2020 has felt like a bit of a hump year with all its mad goings on and we genuinely couldn’t have got through it without you and all of your support and amazing posts – what a crowd of jolly good chums you are – thank you so much ????
We’ve been trying to think of a way of saying thank you, and we’ve come up with something that we hope you’ll like. We’ve decided to turn the tables a bit and celebrate you lovely lot as well, so we’re handing our Wednesday Instagram posts over to our Hiho Loves. We’ve got quite a list of people that we’ve seen waving their Hiho flags, as well as supporting their other lovely #brandloves and we’re going to gradually work our way through and profile them on our feed. You’ll probably never know how much your support means to all of the businesses you flag wave for, it’s always appreciated but over the past few months it’s made a massive difference to us all and we really are very grateful.
We’ve asked our #hiholoves about the other brands that they love as well and also who is important in their lives, we hope you enjoy hearing more about them as they appear. We’ll also be featuring them in a blog as well, and they’ll all be giving a social media tip at the end of their feature so we’re sure there are some nuggets of wisdom to be had as well.
So enough from us, we’d like to introduce our inaugural #hiholoves who is Gemeventing. Many of you will know Gemma as one of our Ambassadors, she lives not far away from us in Somerset and has always been a massive Hiho fan so we are delighted to hand the grid over to her today. Check out our stories too for reposts from Gemma.
Tell us a bit about you, who you are, where you live, what you do etc?
I am Gemma Gilbert also known as Gem Eventing, a 23 year old, born and bred in Somerset. By day I am a precision engineer which I trained as an apprentice and have been qualified 3 years now. Which helps pay for my love of horses, I have a 11 year old tb/cob, skewbald tobiano, blue eyed boy called Conner but mostly known as Con, who is very well known for his unique facial markings and two wall eyes. I’ve been riding 17 years now, but he is the first horse I have owned myself, we enjoy low level eventing and all things jumping, we are keen members of our Riding Club representing them at local and national level. I dabble in a bit of blogging, where I blog all things horse, country, fashion, and all that I am passionate about. Oh, and I have a big obsession with purple so much, so I am now known for it. What started out as my xc colours many years ago now has become a passion for purple.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time if I am not out competing or training with Con I am usually with my other half somewhere, either by the coast or adventures in his ex British gas van which he has converted into a camper van by himself, we have recently come back from Croyde where we had a nice couple of days away, enjoying the sun and sea.
Who did you pick as your Brand Love partner and why?
I was lucky enough to win a competition which Charlotte from Fruitbat Textiles was running last year, little did I know a year on I would be a brand ambassador for her. Like me she is Somerset born and bred and we both have a love for all things British made. Charlottes weaving is incredible, and I could watch it for hours! All her products are so unique which is what I love as no two are the same. As she dies the wool herself, she can create any colour you wish and to match your colour scheme. I pop in for regular visit since she is local to me for catch ups over a good cuppa, she is more of a friend than a business I work with.
Who did you pick as your Life loves and why?
My Life loves are most certainly my family, Mum, Dad and Sister Danni, James and Con. I am incredibly lucky to have the most supportive friends and family with everything I do. Which is why I could not just choose 1 photo it had to be 3.
One piece of advice about posting on social media
Post what YOU want to post not what you think you should post or others what you to post , embrace being YOU!
