Let's give a big round of applause for Tina, the winner of our Rocking Horse competition! Also a heartfelt thank you to all of you who joined in the fun.
We were genuinely drawn to the uncanny likeness between Tina's horse, Cahergal Daisy, and our Hiho Rocking Horse. This piqued our curiosity to learn more about Cahergal Daisy, straight from Tina.
Now, it's time to pass the reins to Tina for an authentic account to hear her story.
Hi, I'm Tina - let me tell you a little about Cahergal Daisy.
We took Cahergal Daisy under our wing at the tender age of five, and now she's a spry 17-year-old. Her Irish past remains a mystery despite our best efforts to trace it.
Standing at 14'1, Cahergal Daisy started as a shared ride between mother and daughter. As time flew, she evolved into my personal ride and a therapeutic companion for children with disabilities. She's the gentlest of souls.
Trained the Parelli way, Cahergal Daisy is the epitome of cool, calm, and collected. Tractors, lorries, cars? Pfft, Cahergal Daisy never bats an eyelid.
She became quite the show horse, often bagging ribbons from 1st to 6th place in dressage, showing, and jumping with myself and my daughter Jess.
A friend offered to share riding duties when my daughter hung up her riding boots, but life can be a hurdle race. Four years ago, Cahergal Daisy injured her ligament and underwent PRP treatment. It was a heart-wrenching moment when the vet suggested retirement.
12 months later, like the true champion she is, Cahergal Daisy bounced back, proving that you can't keep a good horse down. The vet gave her a reprieve - she could be ridden by anyone under 8 stone (alas, not me!).
A friend has since taken her on full loan and Cahergal Daisy is thriving, regularly going out hacking and participating in local shows and clinics. She loves her life, always eager to please, and I get to visit her regularly.
Even if I'm not her primary rider anymore, she’s always thrilled to see me - particularly when I come bearing parsnips! And now with our Hiho rocking horse that could pass as her identical twin, she will always be with me!
