Cherry Roller: Your Style, Your Story

The Hiho Cherry Roller is not just a firm Hiho favourite but our customers one too! You've always been savvy about the physical perfections of our Cherry Rollers, so we figured there was no need to delve into that again.

Instead, we thought we'd let you in on the sentimental side of things. Each Cherry Roller has a special place in our hearts here at Hiho, but it's the unique stories and meanings to each of our lovely customers that truly make them special.

So today we are handing over to you, to hear all about your wonderful rollers…

Sarah, female founder of Morebootsthanheels was one of our first cherry roller customers and adores her cherry roller bangle with solid gold beads, which she added as a bespoke addition when ordering.

"How a beautiful Hiho Cherry Roller led to a lifelong friendship. As soon as I saw these beautiful bracelets launch back in the day, I instantly knew I wanted one to add to my “stack”. When I placed my order for the solid gold beads, I made a solid friendship with Emma Warren, co owner. We hit it off instantly and have become great friends over the years."

Katie loves her Cherry Roller as it is her ‘little piece of horses and her childhood’ that she can wear around with her always. 
 
Grace was given her Cherry Roller by her Mum, many Christmases ago and it holds a very special place in her heart. Not only was it her first ever piece of Hiho jewellery but it was in-fact her first ‘proper’ piece of genuine silver jewellery that she had ever owned! Grace says her Cherry Roller reminds her of the gentle, loving and caring relationship her and her mum share and she wears it at every opportunity with pride.

Currently only three very special customers have them, and Karen is one of them…

Karen is a co-owner of Laura Collect’s horse of a lifetime, London 52, affectionately known as Dan. Karen told us that she just “loves the design of the Cherry Roller as it’s just a bit different” and her very special solid gold one has accompanied her to some wonderful events. Karen recalled wearing the bracelet with pride to her retirement dinner, Laura’s Olympic parties and is looking forward to donning it again for the Horse and Hound Awards this year where London 52 has been nominated for Event Horse of the Year. We have also been fortunate enough to make bespoke red, white and blue rollers for our fantastic Team GB along with various Badminton and Burghley winners, including this year's Badders Winner Caroline Powell!

Let's wrap up our Cherry Roller chat with an amusing story directly from our King of the Road, Andrew, straight from the show scene.

“Picture the scene, a customer approached me on the stand sheepishly and asked “do we do repairs?” 
To which I said “yes of course, how can I help?”
From her pocket, the lady produced a very bent cherry roller bangle in two pieces. I take one look and laugh at the shape and exclaim “what on earth have you done to this?” 
“Well” she said “I’m an equine dentist and I’ve worn this Cherry Roller all the time for the past 4 years and never had a problem…However this time, whilst I was withdrawing my arm I caught the bangle on the gag that I use to keep the horses mouth open whilst I do their teeth!” ( this explained the serious kink in the bangle and the state it was in). 
I said “So I'm guessing the fact that there are only 3 of the 5 beads, some of them disappeared?” 
“Too right” she said, “two of them, I was not prepared to hang around waiting for them!!”
For her honesty and the totally brilliant story, I shaped her bangle back and added her two missing beads. I've seen her a few times since and she makes sure that her treasured Cherry Roller bangle gets taken off now before working on a set of equine teeth!

What a story! Our motto is that our bangles are to take you from mucking out to going out and this lovely customer really put that to the test!
