All About Izzy

Meet Izzy White, a dedicated young event rider from the East Midlands. In 2024, she finished 3rd at Bramham Horse Trials. However, 2025 brought challenges as she fell from a young horse, fracturing her lower back.

Find out more below about Izzy and what makes her tick.

Izzy please tell us a bit about yourself, what do you do, where are you from?

My name is Izzy White and I’m a young event rider from near Newark in Nottinghamshire. I event full time and run a livery yard from our family farm. I got the bug for eventing from my amazing pony Daydream a decade ago and have been hooked ever since. Last year was my best season yet and with my top horse Icarus we finished 3rd at Bramham Horse Trials and reserve u25 National Champions.

Where did your passion for horses come from?

I’m incredibly lucky that my Mum shares the same love of horses that I do. She’s always had a dressage horse and had me on a pony before I could walk!

What have been your highs and lows in eventing so far?

Eventing is definitely a rollercoaster when it comes to highs and lows and last year was no exception for me. Icarus had a brilliant season with a few top 10 placings at 4* and going to Pau, but at the end of the year I had a fall from a young horse xc schooling and fractured a few vertebrae in my lower back. It’s been a very long winter not being able to ride, but I’m counting down the weeks until I’m back on board.

What are your eventing aspirations for the 2025 season?

I’ll be starting my eventing season a little later than most this year, but my biggest aim would be to take Icarus to a 5*. I’ve got some lovely, talented young horses that I’m excited to get out and about and really enjoy our sport of eventing.

What do you do in your spare time when you’re not eventing horses?

I don’t really have much spare time, especially in the months March-October when eventing is in full swing, but I love to teach, it’s so rewarding helping younger riders and they’re horses/ponies. I’m also always up for going out for going out for tea, especially if it involves pizza!

What is your ultimate Hiho love (favourite piece from the Hiho collection) and why?

I have a couple of pieces from the HiHo Collection, but my favorite would have to be the Cherry Roller Snaffle Necklace, I live in mine and barely ever take it off.

It’s definitely a trot up essential!

What is the best piece of advice you have received when it comes to eventing?

Always put your horse first! There is always another day or another event, nothing is more important than your horse.
