Hiho Silver In Conversation with Ever Sinfield-Day
This week over on our socials we have been talking all things heritage,
a word who's meaning is not only shaped by time, but by those who carry it forward.

Which leads us nicely into our very first 'Hiho, In Conversation with' interview featuring a very special up and coming young International Dressage Rider, whose journey and future heritage is just beginning.

Introducing the wonderful Ever Sinfield-Day!

In this email exclusive Ever shares her story so far, we chat all things inspiration, ambition and of course... the horses at the centre of it all!

We hope you enjoy this very special conversation! 💜

Hiho Silver In Conversation with Ever Sinfield-Day

Ever, tell us a bit about yourself - what do you do, where are you from?
I’m a 12 year old International dressage rider for Great Britain and I live in Somerset.
I started doing FEI at the beginning of 2025, when I was just 11 years old and I was long listed for the 2025 European Children Championships. This year I am campaigning for the European Pony Championships in France with a pony I was very kindly given the ride on called Merlin.

At what age did you get into riding, where did your love for horses come from?
I have been riding pretty much my whole life. As soon as I could sit up I was plodding around on my mum's old event horse and a friend's tiny shetland called Saturn. All I have ever wanted to do since I can remember is ride horses and I have never really had any other interests!
I have never been that keen on jumping or going fast, so dressage became my favourite and strongest discipline.  I started doing BD youth when I was nine on a friends little Welsh pony called Diddles and it has grown from there . It’s now become such a big part of my life, I have met so many friend's and I have made life long memories.

Tell us about the horses you're currently riding and what makes them special to you?
I am currently riding a 8 year old, British bred dressage pony called Merlin, owned by Carrie and Reg Passmore who very kindly gave me the ride on him last summer. He is one in a million, and I’m so grateful to be given this opportunity to ride such a special little pony. On the ground he is so cute, always looking for attention and treats, I definitely spoil him a bit too much! I also spend a lot of time just in the stable with him and that has definitely helped our partnership.
I am also riding a lovely, 12 year old, lusitano gelding who is trained to Prix St George called Jupiter. I started riding him when I was nine years old, and he has taken me all the way up the levels. I have never met such a genuine horse, he has taken such good care of me, and he tries so hard for me.

What does a typical day look like for you when you're juggling school and riding?
I wake up at 6:00am, feed, muck out then turn out. I do Pilates most morning, and catch up with any school work. After lunch I ride, and do my home schooling classes in the afternoons and evenings. I am very lucky that my American homeschooling program are flexible with my competitions and training schedule.

You have some amazing achievements under your belt already, what has been your proudest moment in the saddle so far?
I am very proud to have competed for Great Britain at numerous CDI’s, and being placed second at my last CDI with my old pony Scally was very memorable as it was our last show together. I’m very grateful to the selectors for giving me these opportunities, my family that support me, and of course to my wonderful horses.

When you're not training or competing, what do you enjoy doing to relax or have fun?
The spare time that I do have is usually spent in the stable with the horses! But I do really enjoy Pilates and doing gym work. I go to reformer classes twice a week which I really enjoy, and try to do core and strength exercises every day in my makeshift gym at home.

What is your ultimate Hiho love, and why?
I absolutely love all of the Hiho jewellery,  but my absolute favourite has got to be the equestrian range, especially the earrings!

Is there a lesson horses have taught you that you think will stay with you for life?
Absolutely, I think every horse teaches you something different, all of my horses have taught me a lot patience and take each day as a new learning opportunity.

If you could give one piece of advice to other young riders dreaming big, what would it be?
Work hard! And say yes to every opportunity you are given.

Thank you so much for chatting with us Ever, we have loved getting to know you and your horses. We wish you all the luck for your very exciting future!
