Introducing Ginny Mills - your guide into the captivating realm of dogs, horses and country pursuits.
She is most often seen clad in sturdy boots or wellingtons, reflecting her love for the outdoors. But don't be fooled by her rugged exterior, Ginny has an innate ability to transform herself for special occasions like race days, showcasing her elegant side.

Find out more about Ginny and what makes her tick.

Ginny please can you tell us a bit about yourself, what do you do, where are you from?

Hi! I am Ginny, a dog loving, horse riding, country sports enthusiast originally from Lancashire, England now living and working in Northeast Scotland. I currently work as a Social Care Assistant for my local council, a job I absolutely adore!

How did you begin working in healthcare and is it something you have always wanted to do?

When I left school, I was aiming to be a Paramedic. I took a job in a local care home to get some life experience working in their Dementia Friendly Unit. I fell in love with the work and the people so decided to continue progressing in the Care Sector. I have worked in Complex Care, Palliative Care and Challenging behavior before taking my current position out in the community.

We can see that you're passionate about everything country and shooting. How and when did this begin?

I have always been an outdoorsy person, growing up with my dad and brother I was never going to be a girly girl! I always wanted to have animals and I was lucky enough to get my own horse when I was 13. I walked dogs after school to help pay for this and that is when I discovered the world of working Gun Dogs. I bought my own black Labrador, Morgan, in 2021 and having trained her myself, we now work on a few local shoots. You don’t need your own dog to get involved with beating and it is a great way to learn! I always wanted to try shooting, however I only picked up a gun for the first time a couple of years ago. I was gifted a voucher for my birthday to have a go shooting clays at a local outdoor centre and from then I was hooked! When I met my partner Cameron, he helped me learn the ropes and that's when I was introduced shooting game.

How did you get into shooting; do you feel women are becoming more welcome into the world of shooting now?

Personally, I have only had positive experiences! I have met some incredible people through shooting, old and young from all walks of life, all of whom have a genuine love for the sport and want to share that feeling. There are some amazing groups out there you can join. I am a member of CCM Ladies Shooting and The Country Girls UK both of whom hold events to promote women getting involved in country sports. They also hold certain events where any gender can take part!

What do you do in your spare time & what do you get up to offline?

Most of my time is spent either with my dog or riding horses. I do enjoy hill walking and I am trying to bag more Munros this year! My partner works in farming, but we try to fit in travelling abroad when we can.

Where can we find you online?

What is your ultimate Hiho love (favourite piece from the Hiho collection) and why?

This is such a hard question as I love so many of the Hiho collections!

My Daisy stud earrings were where my Hiho addiction began after receiving them as a gift from my partner but I do love my Abbey Ling Shotgun Bracelet and Necklace as it adds a bit of sparkle to shoot days!
