You may know the jewellery...
But we thought it was time for you to get to know our small but mighty team who work super hard behind the scenes to bring to you your favourite pieces of Hiho.

Today, we’re kicking things off by introducing you to our wonderful
Queen Bee and MD, Emma Warren.

Emma has been a part of Hiho since 2007 and guides the brand with her deep love for the countryside and understanding of rural businesses. From shaping our collections, to developing brand relationships and championing artisanal craftsmanship, Emma has a role in every element of Hiho.

Read on, and get to know Emma a little better…

Emma, please tell us what your role is at Hiho and how long you have worked of us?

I’m Hiho's Managing Director and I joined Hiho in 2007, originally as a non-exec Director. I'm mainly responsible for the longer term-planning and the marketing and development of the business, alongside overseeing and designing new jewellery with our fabulous team.

Our team have been with us for many years and don't really need me around for the day-to-day which is perfect, as it allows me to concentrate on the future stuff.
Where in the UK are you based and what do you love most about living there?

I am based in Somerset and when we moved here from Cambridgeshire many years ago, it took me a long time to get used to high hedges and narrow lanes, I was used to being able to see for miles.

I love the Somerset scenery and the fact that we can get to the coast and Cornwall so easily.

What part of your work do you enjoy most day-today?

The variety, my days are rarely the same and I'm very lucky in that I love what I do and the people I work with. I love problem solving and getting out and about and working out what our next moves should be, running a business is a fascinating thing to do and after 40 years, I still have loads to learn!

I also love doing the Countrywoman's Guide podcasts - I get to meet so many lovely country people and hope that by sharing their journey, other people will find a little moment of inspiration to help move on from their own challenges.

What is your go to piece of Hiho for any occasion?

Ohhh that's a hard question as I always have a couple of bracelets on.
So, can I pick a collection?
In which case, it would be the Cherry Roller Collection, I always have my Cherry Roller Bangle on with one bling bead and one initial bead for each of my two sons.

What does a perfect Sunday in the countryside look like to you?

Lazy morning, maybe with a cooked breakfast brunch, time with the family and a long dog walk. Then coming back from the walk into a warm kitchen, with a waft of roast meat as we open the Rayburn oven to check the joint that has been slow cooking all afternoon.
If I can get in some time writing by candlelight before we eat, the day would be pretty much perfect.
What's one countryside tradition you love and would never give up?

Going to country shows and events.
I love it when the Shows start up for us again with Badminton in May.

Getting out and about seeing show stand friends and our customers is one of my favourite ways to spend a day, especially if it’s sunny and a picnic is involved!

Obviously my first stop is our Hiho stand to see Our King of the Road, Andrew, his wife Clem and their show team, and then I invariably end up having chats with our lovely customers on the stand and capturing content with them.

You're in a bakery, they have every single yummy item you could dream of - what are you choosing?

A really good loaf of sourdough please – it’s my absolute weakness.  If it has to be sweet, then probably a jam doughnut.

QUICK FIRE QUESTIONS

Wellies or Walking Boots?

Always wellies!

Never have to do gardening/yard chores again or never have to clean the house again?

I’m a firm believer in a peck of dirt being a good antibiotic (that’s a saying not a prescription, so don’t eat any dirt at home 😉) but I like my bathroom to be clean – so can I get rid of the bathroom cleaning please?

Spontaneous plans or well-worn routines?

I’ll take either unless I’ve already got my PJ’s on, in which case my spontaneity gene is most definitely not present!

Early starts or slow evenings?

I’m an absolute night owl – so long evenings for me.

Horses or dogs?

I absolutely love horses but I’ve always had dogs in my life, so it has to be dogs.  We have 4 at the moment and I love the very bones of them, they’re all such individual characters.

Thank you Emma!

We hope you all enjoyed getting to know her.

If you would like to follow Emma's adventures you can find her on @emmawarren_1 and over on the Countrywoman's Guide Insta and Substack

Next week another face will be dropping into your inbox
but we're pretty sure you'll already be rather familiar with this face...

See you then!

Team Hiho xx
