Unwrapping Christmas with Emily King

What does Christmas look like on the yard for you and your horses? Any special festive traditions?

My horses are all on holiday still, then come back into work after Christmas. So Christmas Day consists of feeding and checking them all in the fields, lots of extra carrots! I help Sam muck any out of the horses he has in. Then we have lunch with Sam's family, then usually head down to Devon Christmas Day evening or Boxing Day morning to see my family :)

What’s on your Hiho Wishlist for this Christmas?

A necklace and bracelet from the Georgie Campbell collection. I think the pieces are stunning and a true reflection of the beauty and grace Georgie carried.

How would you style your favourite Hiho pieces during winter—whether you’re riding, training, or dressing up for festive events?

I love layering necklaces all year round .. I usually have lighter necklaces for riding. Same actually with my bracelets , and then I’d add a chunkier necklace and some bangles to the layering along with rings when I go out.. I’m never shy with the number of rings! I keep smaller earrings in for riding , usually a small horse shoe stud, and I switch these for a danglier one for going out.. but I do love the smaller horseshoe, so they usually stay on from riding to going out!

New Year With Emily King

Is there a piece of jewellery you consider your “lucky charm” going into a new season?

My Georgie Campbell necklace.

\How do you prepare mentally and physically during the winter for the upcoming competition year?

Review and analyse each horse’s performance from this last season, also my own riding and result patterns. Do a lot of strength and conditioning over the winter and set new goals for each horse next year.

What goals are you most excited to chase in the new year?

A top 3 result at Badminton for Valmy and a top 10 for Jackpot at Luhluhlen.

Thank you for catching up with our sponsored rider, Emily King, we hope you have enjoyed hearing all about her winter plans and prep for 2026!

We can't wait to see what the first 2026 instalment will hold.

Team Hiho xx
