Jemima Layzell, a Somerset country girl, died unexpectedly from a brain aneurism aged 13. Owing to the circumstances of her death Jemima was in the rare but privileged position to donate her organs. 5 children and 3 adults benefitted from her donation.
There were however, days when we thought she would survive. If she had lived she would have been severely disabled with loss of speech and the ability to communicate. The Trust set up in her name aims to help children with brain injury by providing much needed specialist equipment and therapy.
Children in need are referred by lead professionals and the cause of their trauma varies from traffic accidents, seizures (relating to illness, for example meningitis), choking, blunt force trauma, strokes and tumours. We are proud that our charity demonstrates a tangible difference to these children. The equipment is proved to enhance their quality of life and aid their recovery so that many of them can return home and lead full lives in the community.
Designed exclusively for the Jemima Layzell Trust, these friendships have been made using a strong cord in the trusts colour pink and in the centre a flat rose shaped disc, which has been engraved so the rose comes alive. The back of the disc has been engraved with ‘Be Love’ and the bracelet is one size fits all, so you can move the silver toggle, which is etched with the Hiho logo, to make it the size that is needed. For each bracelet that is sold, a donation of 25% will be made to the Jemima Layzell Trust. We also have the sterling silver rose charm and silver rose roller bead, which compliments the friendship bracelet beautifully.
