All About Nellie

In today's feature, we are introducing Nellie, founder of English Nettle - a brand new label with its roots based firmly in the English Countryside.

Read on to find out more about Nellie and what makes her tick.

Nellie, please can you tell us a bit about yourself, what do you do, where you are from, and a bit about your business?
 
With a love for all things equestrian and a passion for the English Countryside, I am never happier than when I’m out walking and enjoying nature with the wind blowing in my hair! I am constantly inspired by the ever changing landscapes as the seasons sweep by. The English Countryside and my eye for design are the driving factors that led me to launch my own Company English Nettle, a Manufacturer of Limited Edition, country inspired luxury tailored garments.
 
What inspired you to set up English Nettle?

Unable to find garments that I personally wanted to wear on the high street and deliberately turning my back on fast fashion, I hatched an idea to create a collection of timeless pieces, that were well made, cut from the finest cloth and would be pieces that could be cherished year after year…so with a passion for British country style, a love of Heritage tweed and a chance meeting with a Pattern Cutter, the idea that I had hatched on my kitchen table soon became a reality.

What do you do in your spare time & what do you get up to offline?

There never seems to be enough hours in a day! When I do escape however, you will either find me striding out across the fields, visiting a National Trust Property or heading off on an adventure in Eddie, my Range Rover.

What is your ultimate Hiho love (favourite piece from the Hiho collection) and why?

With so much choice, it’s hard to choose just one piece, however, I absolutely adore the Hiho Exclusive Sterling Silver & 18ct Rose Gold Plate Triple Cherry Roller Snaffle Necklace.

This necklace, is so delicate with its silver and rose gold detailing and just perfect for a horse lover!❤️

What would be your one piece of advice for anyone looking to start a new business? 

There are so many different elements to starting your own business, such as product design, manufacturing, marketing and all the legal stuff!!  My one piece of advice would be: Do your research, and investigate whether your council offers any free classes or advice for startups.  I attended a variety of seminars from intellectual property to designing a website, all of which have stood me in good stead.

Can you give us any styling tips for the spring season, can you see any fashion trends on the Horizon?

As a believer in slow fashion, my advice is to invest in a few key pieces that will stand the test of time and accent with accessories and jewellery. Key colours to look out for this Spring include pinks, lavenders and greens.
